BOOK REVIEW: John Dreamer by Elise Celine

John Dreamer
Andy wasn’t usually sure about much, but she was absolutely certain this was the weirdest day of her life as she stood stranded in the middle of a great white room with six strangers. Well, they were mostly strangers. She could have sworn she’d seen the guy with the green eyes before, and maybe that was why he kept staring at her.

When a man calling himself the Guardian appeared and said they had come to make their deepest dreams come true, they embark on an adventure none of them ever imagined, and the consequences of their actions would change them forever. - goodreads

Reviewed this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Okay. I love the cover art. It's what made me click request. With the synopsis in hand, I was even more interested...

Then I started reading.

Seven Chairs. Seven Strangers.  Each stuck in this 'dream' room until they figure out something about them self.

The characters were all very one sided (with a very sterotypical-ness to all of them) so I couldn't fully engage myself into cheering or jeering for any of them. They were either annoying, stupid, or dull.

Then the plot. I understand what Elise Celine was trying to go for. But after the third chair, its like, okay, I get it. The characters get it. Can we just end it now? And well, the ending didn't leave me with any thing to write home about.

Why did a romance have to occur too? Not every YA book needs to feature some sort of love interest. But this one definitely felt like it needed to. And it was just poorly written. Like vomit inducing.

Then about halfway through, and for only one chapter. It goes into someone else's Point of View. I usually like when books do this, but do it for the whole book, not just out of nowhere.

I really wanted to like it.  I just couldn't wait for it to be done. Don't' waste your time.
